2016 Water Conference
Institutional Constraints to Water Management in New Mexico
Friday, May 20, 2016
UNM Student Union Ballroom
The drought has eased somewhat in New Mexico but might be returning, and uncertainties regarding our future remain. This 1-day conference will focus on federal and state institutions that manage and control our water supply, and the constraints that are imposed by physical realities and regulatory requirements. Speakers and participants will explore alternative approaches to minimize these constraints to improve our overall water resource management. The conference will feature opening remarks from Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham and presentations from several federal and state institutions. The conference will include panel sessions on:
- Update on New Mexico’s water resources
- Watershed health
- Reservoir operations
- River water quality
Registration will start at 8 AM and the program will run until 4:30 in the afternoon. The $25 registration fee will cover refreshments, lunch, and parking at UNM. This event is sponsored by the University of New Mexico.
Parking is free of charge.
