Cherie De Vore, Ph.D. Candidate working under Dr. Jose Cerrato, Associate Professor in CCEE, has been awarded a 2020 National Science Foundation (NSF) Earth Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowship. The fellowship will fund two years of Cherie’s research related to the bioavailability of As from mining-impacted soil microsites governed by biogeochemical redox cycling. Cherie plans to graduate in Summer, 2020 with a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering. Her project is entitled, “Arsenic Bioavailability and Speciation controlled by Plant-Soil Microsites on Native American Lands” and she will be joining the Soil and Environmental Geochemistry Research Group at Stanford University with Dr. Scott Fendorf in Fall 2020.
