Profile

Eliane El Hayek, is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of New Mexico since August 2016, working with Dr José Cerrato in “E-H2O Research Group”. During fall 2016 and 2017, El Hayek was also teaching quantitative chemistry course with Dr Stephen Cabaniss at the chemistry department. Her most research work are related to the bioavailability and the uptake mechanisms of uranium by plant and human cells under environmental conditions relevant to the mine sites in New Mexico. El Hayek received her Ph.D. degree in 2015 from the Lebanese University and Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse France. In her Ph.D., she studied atmospheric pollution and the potential of using cactus species for biomonitoring in arid and semi-arid regions by conducting lead isotopic studies.
